Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in search of the traitor.

What’s Next?

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
